Munchkins Program

FOR THE BIRTH YEARS 2018, 2019 & 2020 (must be 2 at start of session)

As a parent, you are always looking for ways to help your child grow and develop.  Registering for the Munchkins program is a superb way for you and your child to be introduced to the game of soccer as well as the importance of developing movement skills.  According to the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine, “Movement skills are an essential element of a child’s overall development and play a significant role influencing physical, psychosocial, and mental health.”

Movement skills are essential in any child's development as they will have a direct impact on how they experience the world.  Involvement in physical education and programs designed to encourage and enhance activity will improve a child’s experience.

Munchkins is an eight-week program offered at various days and times and the kids come once a week. This unique program is designed and led by licensed professional coaches.  The coaching staff will lead you and your child through multiple age-appropriate game-based activities.  The fun and engaging games are designed to teach ball control as well as improve your child’s balance, coordination, and basic motor skills.  As a participant in this program, you can encourage these fun age-appropriate activities at home.

All sessions are 45 minutes and we supply the equipment.  Please click the Register Button to see the current Summer schedule.  Children must be 2 years old by July 1 to participate.

FOR THE BIRTH YEARS 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017

Micros is the next step in the SUSA pyramid and an introduction to soccer for children with birth years 2014-2017.  The program focuses on teaching the basics in a fun and safe environment.

The Spring, Fall and Winter sessions players have 2 sessions per week.  They will choose 1 day of training during the week that works best for your schedule.  The weekday training will focus on individual technical skills.  The 2nd day is game day on either Saturday or Sunday.  Players will participate in small sided games to enhance the technical skills they learned during the week and learn the basic rules of the game.

The Summer program is once a week.  There are no weekend games in the Summer.

Graduates of Micros are encouraged to continue their youth soccer development on a SUSA Academy team.

Micros Pre-k, Kindergarten Division

This program is an introductory level offering for the youngest players, many of whom are new to soccer.  Our proven curriculum will encourage deceptive dribbling and ball mastery and emphasize risk taking to get kids comfortable with a ball at their feet.  During the weekend game we want the players to express themselves individually by experimenting and testing out the skills they’ve learned during training.  We love to see them take risks on the field with a smile on their face and without any worries about making a mistake!

Micros 1st grade/ 2nd grade Division

This division will build on the fundamentals kids have already learned.  Players are split by ability allowing even those new to soccer to join at this age.  The focus is a strong technical foundation and building confidence on the ball.  The age appropriate sessions will be a ton of fun as our licensed coaches give your child the best foundation for soccer.  This is an ideal pathway for all players, especially those who aspire to play at the top competitive levels.
